1958 Edsel Pacer

This print features a 1958 Edsel  Pacer set into a detail from the first panel of  Hieronymus Bosch’s triptych “The Temptation of St Anthony”.

A giclée super hi definition archive quality print  in a limited run of 100 signed and numbered by the artist on the back. In 2 sizes A0 and A1 printed on Innova smooth cotton high white 315gsm paper with fully archival Epson HDR pigment inks.

While its roll-out was highly publicized in the fall (autumn) of 1957, the 1958 Edsel is best known as a marketing disaster for Ford. The Edsel was saddled with quality and reliability issues from the very beginning but its price was just too much: It started at $2,500 and topped out at $3,800, which was much more expensive than other Ford models at the time. Basically an expensive Ford, it didn’t look like a good option for most consumers and despite being among the best-selling 1958 Edsel models, the Pacer was discontinued at the end of 1958. A glorious flop…
